The Website of Tia Maria Jim

When young I lived near the railway line from St Albans to Hatfield and often watched the occasional train.

My father worked at De Havilland's and occasionally used to travel on this line between Hill End to Lemsford Road Halt which was a station opened especially for workers early in WW2.

The line closed in 1951 and it is to my regret that I never actually travelled on it.

I did however take a photograph of the last train at Hatfield.

As and when I find this photo I will add it to this page, but in the meantime three tickets from the line will have to suffice.

I have at last obtained a ticket issued from Hill End, being the return half of a Workmans Return to Lemsford Road Halt [the same type of ticket my father would have travelled with].
